Tour Description

Tour Host: Am Johal

This walk will cover some of the important moments of militant labour history in Vancouver during the 20th century.

From free speech riots to the On-to-Ottawa Trek, from the Battle of Ballantyne Pier to other important events, we will walk to areas where demonstrations happened, where social rights were fought for and insurrectionary ideas gained momentum.

Jane's Walk

Jane's Walk is held simultaneously in cities across Canada and other countries around the world. Inspired by Jane Jacob's and her belief that in order to know your city "you have to get out and walk," Jane's Walk is a simple idea. It is free, it connects people and builds communities by promoting urban literacy and citizen engagement.
